Points of View – National Human Rights Photography Exhibition
Dieppe Beach, 73 Years Later

In the summer of 1942, Canadian soldiers, alongside some of the British and American military, embarked on the Dieppe Raid to push the Germans back from the coast of France. The attack was devastating for the Allies, as the Germans wounded or killed a large group of their forces and made them retreat back across the English Channel. However, for the French, this was a signal that they had not been forgotten by the Allies and that there was hope for the future. The people of Dieppe still honour and celebrate the Canadian soldiers that were involved in the Dieppe Raid; there is a museum, a monument on the beach and a cemetery.
